Trip Highlights
- WHAT IS THE CARNIVAL OF BRAZIL? Rio Carnival is a massive, annual, week-long pre-Lenten festival in Brazil, often called the "Greatest Show on Earth". It runs from Friday to Ash Wednesday and features vibrant, organized, and competitive samba school parades at the Sambadrome, along with numerous free, spontaneous street parties known as blocos.
- BRAZILIAN CARNIVAL COSTUMES AND CELEBRATIONS At Brazilian Carnival, Samba costumes aren’t about revealing outfits but vibrant celebration. Dancers wear elaborate feathered pieces over bikinis and bodysuits, creating a dazzling, otherworldly spectacle as they move to rhythmic beats. Many also wear colorful masks that add to the surreal atmosphere and temporarily blur social divisions. The music—driven by brass, guitars, and lively percussion—makes it almost impossible not to dance.
- THE EXPERIENCE - INKATERRA RESERVA AMAZONICA An eco-luxury lodge in front of Madre de Dios River, Pristine, remote and yet easily accessible. Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica is adjacent to the lush Tambopata National Reserve, where the Madre de Dios River meanders through the Southern Peru rainforest region, known as the Biodiversity Capital of Peru. A welcoming haven situated at the heart of a 17,000 hectare (42,008-acre) private ecological reserve, only a 25-minute flight from Cusco.
